Hey guys,
I know this is a little bit of topic for me, but I just really wanted to talk about this outfit. Mainly because it took for ages to get myself sorted, haha!
It was my boyfriend's graduation on July 2 and the amount of effort I put into my outfit, make up and hair was quite ridiculous... And, don't even get me started on his present.
Anyway, the outfit. It had to be formal and nice, yet not too nice as to take away attention from the graduate.. You see, stress!
Firstly, I thought a jumpsuit. I found this beautiful strapless pale pink jumpsuit by Love online, ordered it, it arrived, tried it on....
HATED IT. It was extremely see-though. So see-through you could even see my belly button?! Why?
It was £45, not overly expensive but cost enough to expect better quality... Left a nasty review on that website.
This left me in a fluster, as I had no clue what to wear.
One day, on my lunch break from work, I went down to Tempest, which unfortunately isn't a rare occurrence... I found this lovely mint green, almost pleated dress, I tried it on and just fell in love with it. It was understated, floaty, not too long or too short and respectable enough for a graduation/wedding.
Next came jewellery, I've been pining after a new statement necklace which are absolutely everywhere at the minute. The one I'm wearing in the below picture, I found on ebay (along with another) for £5.95!! Yep, you read that right, £5.95.
I thought about wearing no earrings but my chosen hairstyle would have meant that you could see my ears so I thought something small would suit fine. Ordered a set of a range of different studs from Topshop for £4.50, the dome-shaped little shiny pink studs were perfect. And to finish things off I borrowed a ring from a colleague, a dome-shaped, diamanté-filled, almost rose gold, little piece of perfection, which matched the earrings exactly.
So with my jewellery sorted, it came to the shoes and bag. I bought a pair of nude sandals from New Look which were understated yet bang on trend. Although, they gave me a blister on my toe (made worse by Scott standing on my foot and ripping the skin off... Yuck) I still love them and are fast become my favourites for the summer.
I borrowed a simple pink, clutch bag from my sister's friend, and there it was...
My perfect graduation outfit!
My make inspiration came from the Core Collection Tutorial videos put up by Nic and Sam Chapman. I went for their big eyes tutorial inspired by Zooey Deschanel who I love, and also I quite like my eyes so I thought it would be nice to highlight them in Zooey's understated yet gorgeous way! You can also view it here -->http://realtechniques.com/videos/big-eyes-makeup-tutorial
For my hair, I decided to put it up out of my way (sort of), I really like my hair up but don't really like photo's of me with my hair up, it's an angles thing, haha!
Anyway, a side ponytail was a fantastic compromise and looks so classy! I watched a video on youtube on how to hide your hair bobble and hey, presto... I was ready to rock. In a classy way of course, and with champange rather than beer.
I know, this isn't my usual thing and I've hesitated so much about uploaded this, three months worth of hesitation to be exact!
Be gentle and let me know what you think!
